Amboli Herping Packages: 2017

Amboli is known among the herping community for the immense diversity of frogs and snakes. It is one of the best places to see the Malabar Pit Viper in the northern Western Ghats. Apart from this there are many other herps that this place is a home to. Like the Dancing frog (Micrixalus uttarghati) which was described from Amboli itself and the Amboli Toad which is found in  plenty on the lateritic plateaus. Amboli is also receives the highest rainfall in the Northern Western Ghats which is probably the reason for the diversity of herps found here.

Itinerary:

Three days of exclusive herping in the forests of Amboli. Areas covered will be Mahadevgad, Van udhyan, Choukul Forest and plateau. Most of the herping will be done at night as that is wehn most reptiles and amphibians are active. It is also a great opportnity to photograph other lesser fauna and a lot of flora that can be seen during the season.

You will have the services of a Naturalist for the entire duration of the tour.

Stay will be at Mrugaya Nature Retreat.

Malabar Gliding Frog, Ornate Narrow-mouthed Frog, Marbled Ramanella, Minervarya frog, Night Frog, Reddish Burrowing Frog, Dancing Frog, Malabar Pit Viper, Beddome's Keelback, Buff-striped Keelback, Ceylon Cat Snake, Banded Ground gecko, Prasad's Gecko, Termite Hill gecko and so on....
