Although Goa is a well-known destination for tourists, it is also a popular destination among foreign birders. With over 450 species of birds recorded in this small state and access tomost of the birding hotspots, it is one of the well birded areas in the country. One can explore a variety of habitats in a small area and it is possible to cover more than 150 species in a span of 4 days.

Itinerary 1:

Stay will be near Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. From here a day will also be spent at the nearby Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary. Netravali is one of the lesser explored areas in Goa and birding will be at an altitude of 600m with chances of seeing some species which are only found at that elevation in Goa. Includes a session at one of the Wetlands and a boat ride in River Zuari to explore the birds of the mangroves.

Highlight Species: Malabar Trogon, Malabar Parakeet, Malabar Barbet, Grey-fronted Green Pigeon, Mountain Imperial Pigeon, Green Imperial Pigeon, White-bellied Woodpecker, Heart Spotted Woodpecker, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Jerdon's Nightjar, White-bellied Blue Flycatcher, Lesser Yellownape, Indian Scimitar Babbler, Rufous Babbler, Indian Blue Robin, Collared Kingfisher, Black-capped Kingfisher, Lesser Adjutant, Greater Crested Tern.

Itinerary 2:

Stay on the border of Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary at Jungletrails Homestay. From here also explore Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. These areas are more frequented by local as well as foreign birders. Includes a session at one of the Wetlands and a boat ride in River Zuari to explore the birds of the mangroves.
