Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary
Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary is the southernmost protected area in Goa and what is unique about this forest is its proximity to the Arabian Sea. The forest is moist deciduous with lofty trees and dense undergrowth with a good density of Ficus trees making it an excellent place for birding. For anyone staying in the extreme south in Goa, this is perfect place to go birding.
Key Species: Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Barbet, Malabar Parakeet, Malabar Whistling Thrush, Flame-throated Bulbul, Yellow-browed Bulbul, White-bellied Woodpecker, Heart-spotted Woodpecker, White-bellied Woodpecker, Green Imperial Pigeon, Malabar Trogon, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Jerdon's Nightjar, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Brown-breasted Flycatcher, Forest Wagtail, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch.
