Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park

Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park together constitute the largest and the oldest protected area (PA) in Goa. This is one of the well birded areas in the state with earliest sightings from the 80s by visiting birders to Goa. This PA also has the Dudhsagar waterfall - one of the largest waterfalls in India. The topography of tropical evergreen forest, semi evergreen forest and moist deciduous forest which is the reason for the rich birdlife that is seen here.

Key Species: Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Barbet, Malabar Parakeet, Malabar Whistling Thrush, Flame-throated Bulbul, Yellow-browed Bulbul, White-bellied Woodpecker, Heart-spotted Woodpecker, Blue-eared Kingfisher, Malabar Trogon, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Jerdon's Nightjar, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Brown-breasted Flycatcher, Forest Wagtail, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch.
